洗替方 (Araigae method) is an accounting procedure in Japan, which is probably unique in the world. Under Araigae method, an asset is stated at the fair value on the balance sheet at the end of the period. At the beginning of the next period, however, the book value is reversed to the acquisition cost.
Araigae method can be probably translated into “reversal method” in English.
切放法 (Kirihanashi method) is the lower of cost or market method. Here, the carrying values of an asset at the end of the period and at the beginning of the next period are the same.
